Want to go to a top entrepreneurship program in the United States? Look at schools in the middle of the country. A recent ranking of entrepreneurship programs from Framingham, Mass.-based Princeton Review and Irvine, Calif.-based Entrepreneur.com reveals that many of the top programs lie off the coasts.

The list was compiled from the nearly 300 universities that volunteered to respond to the group’s survey. None of the 12 Ivy League schools participated.

The top 10 undergraduate programs are:

  1. University of Houston
  2. Babson College
  3. Brigham Young University
  4. The University of Texas- Austin
  5. University of Southern California
  6. Tecnológico de Monterrey
  7. Washington University in St. Louis
  8. University of Michigan — Ann Arbor
  9. Baylor University
  10. University of Maryland — College Park

The top 10 graduate programs are:

  1. Rice University
  2. Northwestern University
  3. Babson College
  4. University of Michigan
  5. University of California – Los Angeles
  6. University of Texas – Austin
  7. University of Southern California
  8. University of Washington
  9. University of Rochester
  10. Northeastern University

Princeton Review conducted its survey for its 2022 annual ranking from June to August 2021. The schools were ranked on qualities such as the number of degrees and courses offered, whether entrepreneurship students have the opportunity to collaborate with students in other majors, the ratio of faculty to students, the percentage of students enrolled in entrepreneurship already, the total number of companies started by alumni and the number of mentorship and funding opportunities available to students.
